Belong and Value (12): Admonish One Another | Pastor Mark Harrell | Play/Download
Romans 15: 13-16 NKJ
Admonish: To counsel or to add wisdom. This would include a Christian's ability to provide biblical, spiritual counsel, and wisdom for one another. To admonish also means to provide instruction, exhortation, correction, and possible warning, depending on the situation, to someone who needs to avoid a sin or needs to be delivered from a sin or seek help to be pointed in the path of wisdom.
You can only truly admonish someone you are in a trusted, on-going relationship, because they BELONG and they are VALUED.
The goal of admonishing is stated clearly in Colossians 1:28 "He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ." NIV
You are a maturing Christian when you are consistently making decisions that reflect a Biblical World View.
Qualifications for admonishing:
The Holy Spirit shows up when there is a good life (godly, pursuing God) and the Word.
Acts 20:31 "Wherefore watch ye, remembering that by the space of three years I ceased not to admonsih everyone night and day with tears." ASV
Biblical encouragement, admonition, direction, counsel, cares about the well being of the person you are trying to help. You need to have a heart for the person.
James 5: 19-12:1 NKJ
